Texas State Finish Strong at Betsy Rawls Invitational

Matilda Cederholm, a native of Lomma, Sweden played a very strong final round, shooting a 71 (-1) and finishing the 54-hole tournament at 232 (+16).  Teammate Halle Whitney, from Magnolia, Texas, birdied two of the first three holes and shot a respectable 78 (+6) in the final round.  Her 54-hole total was 237 (+21) over. 

Cederholm and Whitney represented the Texas State University at the 47th Betsy Rawls Invitational played at the UT Golf Club this weekend.  The tourney was the first collegiate competition for both athletes. 

The University of Texas women’s golf team has hosted Betsy Rawls Invitational since 1976.  This years’ event was played at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas.  Rawls, a 1950 Texas graduate, won greater than 50 tour championships including four U.S. Opens.  She is a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame and the Texas Sports Hall of Fame.
