University of Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns overwhelm Texas State Bobcats 27-3

The University of Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns traveled from Lafayette to San Marcos to play football.  Unfortunately, the home did not show up, practically.

It was the Homecoming Game for 18,278 students and alumni, and the weather was perfect for football.  Texas State seem poised to play, taking the starting kick-off for 63 yards in 12 plays, setting for a 29 yard field goal by Marcus Ripley.  Unfortunately, the remaining 55 minutes and 37 seconds were owned by the Ragin’ Cajuns.

Louisiana put up 27 unanswered points, seemingly scoring at will.  Louisiana ran for 236 yards, and passed for 250 yards, compared to Texas States’ meager 79 and 103 yards.  Surprisingly, time of possession was evenly split, making the time on the field all the more unpleasant for Texas State and their fans.  The stands emptied after the half-time Homecoming recognitions.

Noteworthy performances for Texas State came from Tyler Jones, 142 yards passing, Stedman Mayberry, 54 yards running and 22 yards receiving, Elijah King, 42 yards receiving, and Gabe Schrade, 29 yards receiving.

Good luck to the Bobcats next week as they travel to Appalachian State.
